Prior to becoming an attorney, Ms. Deokarran worked as a paralegal at a high-volume collections and creditors’ rights firm. In that role, she assisted with collections matters, prepared pleadings, reviewed financial documentation, and organized complex case files. This experience strengthened her document review skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage large caseloads in fast-paced environments.

 

In addition to her legal background, Ms. Deokarran spent eight years managing operations for a retail and wholesale business. She resolved customer disputes, coordinated logistics, supervised staff, and maintained financial and inventory records. This business experience provides her with a practical understanding of business operations, contract performance, and commercial relationships, insight she brings to her litigation practice. Her background and experience working across international environments further provide valuable insight into cross-border business relationships and diverse client needs.

 

In her current role with the firm, Ms. Deokarran assists in a broad range of litigation and arbitration matters involving breach of contract, construction defects, unlicensed contracting, lien and licensing disputes, condominium and association issues, real estate conflicts, and general business disputes. Her responsibilities include drafting and reviewing pleadings and motions, assisting with case strategy and discovery, analyzing contracts, preparing materials for hearings and arbitrations, coordinating with clients and opposing counsel, and ensuring compliance with procedural and scheduling requirements in state and federal courts as well as AAA proceedings.
