María H. Jacome is a dedicated legal professional with extensive experience in corporate law, civil litigation, real estate transactions, and complex construction-related matters. With over a decade of combined experience as an attorney in Colombia and as a senior paralegal in the United States, Ms. Jacome brings a deep understanding of both domestic and international legal systems, offering clients a high level of precision, analytical skill, and reliable case management support.
Ms. Jacome began her legal career in Colombia, where she practiced civil and business litigation as an Associate Attorney with Horizonte & Gestión S.A.S. She represented corporate and individual clients in court proceedings, administrative hearings, and contract negotiations. Her work included preparing and arguing motions, defending depositions, conducting legal research, and advising clients on regulatory compliance and strategic partnerships. She also served as Legal Advisor to the Concejo del Municipio de San Estanislao de Kostka, where she negotiated employment contracts, drafted municipal policies, prepared government filings, and supported the council’s administrative operations.
After relocating to the United States, Ms. Jacome transitioned into a paralegal career while pursuing advanced legal education. In her first role, she supported bankruptcy and debt-related litigation, drafting Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 petitions, coordinating court filings, and managing attorney schedules and case deadlines. She later joined Feinstein & Mendez, P.A., where she provided high-level paralegal support for complex commercial and residential real estate transactions. Her responsibilities included drafting purchase agreements, closing documents, and estate planning instruments; managing closings; coordinating with title companies and lenders; forming legal entities; and assisting with real estate litigation matters.
Ms. Jacome currently serves as a Senior Paralegal at Michael Garcia, P.A., where she supports litigation involving construction defects, breach of contract claims, lien enforcement, and delay disputes in state and federal courts. She drafts pleadings, discovery, motions, affidavits, and trial materials in compliance with Florida procedural rules. She also conducts legal and factual research, manages large-scale document productions, coordinates mediation and trial preparation, assists with courtroom technology, and serves as a point of contact for clients, experts, and opposing counsel. Her experience includes preparing statutory construction filings such as Notices to Owner, Claims of Lien, and Notices of Commencement pursuant to
Florida Statutes Chapters 713 and 489.
Ms. Jacome’s diverse background in litigation, real estate, municipal affairs, and corporate law allows her to adapt seamlessly to varying practice areas and case demands. Ms. Jacome earned her LL.M. in Law from Florida International University, a Paralegal Certificate from the University of Miami, and a Law and Political Science degree from Universidad Libre in Cartagena, where she was admitted to practice law in Colombia (Concejo Superior de la Judicatura, T.P. 209168, 2011). She is bilingual in English and Spanish and is a commissioned Florida Notary Public.
